Upon returning from their conquests in 1189, three knights, Guiral, Alban, and Loup, in love with Princess Bertrade, learned of her disappearance and decided to become hermits, each on a mountain, and to light a fire every year to celebrate the beauty. The peak was thus named Pic Saint Loup.
